SUBJECT LINE: We Need To Talk About The Strike (ARCHIVED)

Right, if nobody’s going to say it, I will.

As supportive as I am of people’s rights to industrial action, and as strongly as I believe that things need to change dramatically in our workplace, I am deeply concerned that while not intended to be one, the strike forms an act of sabotage with consequences far more concerning than people have realised.

Okay, we can lose a couple of people from Weather, that’s fine. (Sorry, Weather). We can lose some performers, that’s okay. People whose jobs are basically finished (Blocking, Choreo, Colour Correction) - we can lose them too.

But - right, what are we going to do if we lose Pyrotechnics? What if we lose Misc. Int.?

And then (and this one’s the biggie) - if we lose Liaisons or a Link Specialist, there’s the possibility that we’re screwed in a major way. A strike knocking out those departments has the potential to be catastrophic.

I fundamentally support your cause. But please, please take into account the ramifications before you decide to join the strike. We are a very complicated machine.
